Man­gango bal­lots pa­pers ar­rive

BAL­LOT pa­pers for the by-elec­tions in Man­gango (par­lia­men­tary), Lu­pososhi (chair­per­son) and to elect five coun­cilors, set for Novem­ber 20, 2018 have ar­rived in Lusaka. The bal­lot pa­pers ar­rived yes­ter­day at Ken­neth Kaunda In­ter­na­tional Air­port (KKIA) in Lusaka from Dubai, United Arab Emi­rates. Ver­i­fi­ca­tion of the bal­lot pa­pers with the par­tic­i­pat­ing po­lit­i­cal par­ties is sched­uled for to­day. The Man­gango par­lia­men­tary by-elec­tion is due to the death of UPND law­maker Naluwa Mweene while the lo­cal gov­ern­ment by-elec­tions are for the newly cre­ated dis­tricts and to re­place some coun­cil­lors who re­signed in some dis­tricts. Mr Mweene died in a road traf­fic ac­ci­dent at Itezhi tezhi turn on the Lusaka – Mongu Road. Fil­ing in of nom­i­na­tions by aspir­ing can­di­dates took place on Oc­to­ber 16, 2018 and cam­paign­ing started the same day af­ter 15:00 hours and will end at 18:00 hours on Novem­ber 19, 2018 in readi­ness for polls the next day
