UPND defers Northwest conference
The United Party for National Development (UPND) in North Western province has deferred its provincial conference to a later date.
The provincial conference was supposed to be held last weekend but could not take place due to the outbreak of COVID-19
North-western Province Commissioner General for the Intra Party Elections, Munji Habeenzu said in an interview that it had been difficult for the party to bring all members together in the wake of COVID-19.
The provincial conference was supposed to be held last weekend but could not take place due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
“Initially, the plan was to hold the provincial conference last week end, but it could not take place because people could not travel. So, we have deferred the provincial conference to a later date,” he said.
Mr Habeenzu also revealed that candidates who had filed in their nominations, would be scrutinized to ensure that there was representation from all corners of the province without leaving anyone behind.
“North-western province is dynamic and so, we have to ensure that all those who filed in nominations do not only come from one district or two districts only,” he said.
He further urged those who filed in nominations to continue campaigning peacefully before the election date is announced.
