Mau­reen Nkandu Earns Seat on Daily Mail Board

SA BASED IN­TER­NA­TIONAL me­dia per­son­al­ity Mau­reen Nkandu earned her­self a seat on the Daily Mail board. Mau­reen who re­cently au­thored a Zam­bian best seller “Tried and Tested, My First Fifty Years” has been ap­pointed as part of the state owned news­pa­per.

Nkandu whose ex­pe­ri­ence and early jour­nal­ism days were with the na­tional TV broad­caster -ZNBC, later mov­ing to Bo­phuthatswana, trained in In­dia and Europe is ex­pected to now con­tribute her years of lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional ex­pe­ri­ence to help the Daily mail em­bark on en­hanc­ing its lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional rep­u­ta­tion. Nkandu has also worked with SABC in South Africa, BBC in Lon­don and has re­cently worked with the United Na­tions and the world Bank.

Brief­ing the press, In­for­ma­tion and Broad­cast­ing Min­is­ter Kam­pamba Mu­lenga named the other Daily Mail board mem­bers as Dr Gil­lian Mukula Mwamba, Dr Chanda Mu­lenga, Ge­of­frey Simukoko, Win­ston Si­wale, Si­mon Mwale, God­frey Malama and Ne­bert Mbewe who is the cur­rent MD.

The In­for­ma­tion Min­is­ter also an­nounced the board mem­bers se­lected for the Times of Zam­bia. She said that those se­lected and ap­proved by the Na­tional Assem­bly in­clude Ma­bel Mun­gonga, Nikiwe Sim­pungwe, Ho­race Longwe, Gideon Mwewa, Bwalya Mwila, Mkusuwila Nachalwe, Ly­dia Mpepo, Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary God­frey Malama, and Times of Zam­bia MD Be­stone Ngonga.

Mu­lenga chal­lenged the Ap­pointed Board Mem­bers to work at mak­ing the two state owned me­dia houses prof­itable so that they can start declar­ing div­i­dends to the gov­ern­ment.
