Maureen Nkandu Earns Seat on Daily Mail Board
SA BASED INTERNATIONAL media personality Maureen Nkandu earned herself a seat on the Daily Mail board. Maureen who recently authored a Zambian best seller “Tried and Tested, My First Fifty Years” has been appointed as part of the state owned newspaper.
Nkandu whose experience and early journalism days were with the national TV broadcaster -ZNBC, later moving to Bophuthatswana, trained in India and Europe is expected to now contribute her years of local and international experience to help the Daily mail embark on enhancing its local and international reputation. Nkandu has also worked with SABC in South Africa, BBC in London and has recently worked with the United Nations and the world Bank.
Briefing the press, Information and Broadcasting Minister Kampamba Mulenga named the other Daily Mail board members as Dr Gillian Mukula Mwamba, Dr Chanda Mulenga, Geoffrey Simukoko, Winston Siwale, Simon Mwale, Godfrey Malama and Nebert Mbewe who is the current MD.
The Information Minister also announced the board members selected for the Times of Zambia. She said that those selected and approved by the National Assembly include Mabel Mungonga, Nikiwe Simpungwe, Horace Longwe, Gideon Mwewa, Bwalya Mwila, Mkusuwila Nachalwe, Lydia Mpepo, Permanent Secretary Godfrey Malama, and Times of Zambia MD Bestone Ngonga.
Mulenga challenged the Appointed Board Members to work at making the two state owned media houses profitable so that they can start declaring dividends to the government.
