BULAWAYO, Tuesday, August 6, 1991 — Wankie Colliery middle distance runner, Savieri Ngidhi Msipa, has won a twoyear athletics scholarship to the United States of America.
According to a release from Wankie, 23-year-old Msipa will be based at Blinn College where he will be studying accounts.
Msipa stamped his name on the local athletics scene in 1988 when he beat United States-based Melford Homela, a member of the Zimbabwe Olympic team then in the 800 metre Mobil Championship race.
His other memorable performance was in Egypt, the same year he ran the 1000 metre race in 3,45 minutes and was placed seventh overall. Msipa is expected to leave for the US on August 22.
