BU­L­AWAYO, Tues­day, Au­gust 6, 1991 — Wankie Col­liery mid­dle dis­tance run­ner, Savieri Ngidhi Msipa, has won a twoyear ath­let­ics schol­ar­ship to the United States of Amer­ica.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­lease from Wankie, 23-year-old Msipa will be based at Blinn Col­lege where he will be study­ing ac­counts.

Msipa stamped his name on the lo­cal ath­let­ics scene in 1988 when he beat United States-based Melford Homela, a mem­ber of the Zimbabwe Olympic team then in the 800 me­tre Mo­bil Cham­pi­onship race.

His other me­morable per­for­mance was in Egypt, the same year he ran the 1000 me­tre race in 3,45 min­utes and was placed sev­enth over­all. Msipa is ex­pected to leave for the US on Au­gust 22.
