Zifa South­ern Re­gion meets for JL Nkomo Su­per 8 Cup draw

THE John Landa Nkomo Liquor Hub Su­per 8 Cup draw will be the high­light of the Zifa South­ern Re­gion gen­eral meet­ing to be held to­mor­row in Bulawayo.

The de­layed meet­ing which was sup­posed to be held in Au­gust will take place at Homestead Con­fer­ence Cen­tre along Ge­orge Silundika Street.

Musa Man­daza, the Zifa South­ern head said the spon­sor of the in­au­gu­ral tour­na­ment, Raj Modi will con­duct the draw af­ter their meet­ing.The top eight teams at the half­way mark will go into the hat.

Four Bulawayo teams, ta­ble top­pers Bantu Rovers, Bulawayo Chiefs, Black Boots and ZRP Bulawayo will com­pete with the same num­ber of clubs from Mata­bele­land North Prov­ince, which are in the top eight.

The clubs from Mata­bele­land North that booked places in the John Landa Nkomo Liquor Hub Su­per 8 Cup are Ama­ga­gasi, ZPC Hwange, Tech­no­sphere and Vic­to­ria Falls Tigers.

“Ev­ery­thing is set for our mid-sea­son meet­ing to be held in Bulawayo on Satur­day. Our spon­sor of the new tour­na­ment the John Landa Nkomo Liquor Hub Su­per 8 Cup, Raj Modi will con­duct the draw and then we will come up with dates for the com­pe­ti­tion. I will present the chair­man’s re­port, give our af­fil­i­ates feed­back on our fi­nances.

“We also in­tend iron­ing out mat­ters to do with the fixtures so that we have a flaw­less sec­ond half of the sea­son. We don’t want to have matches post­poned in the sec­ond half or have some teams on a bye just like what hap­pened in the first half,” said Man­daza.

In his re­port, Man­daza is ex­pected to brief mem­bers on the ill-fated es­tab­lish­ment of Na­tional Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion of Zim­babwe (Nafaz).

Ex­pected to at­tend the meet­ing are South­ern Re­gion Divi­sion One Soc­cer League clubs and af­fil­i­ates of the Zifa Bulawayo Met­ro­pol­i­tan Prov­ince and Zifa Mata­bele­land North Prov­ince, which in­clude the ju­nior league and area zones. — @ZililoR
