‘Hooker’ aban­dons baby for two-week party spree

A WOMAN be­lieved to be a hooker, al­legedly aban­doned her one-year-old baby for two weeks as she went club­bing.

Sharon Sibanda (22) from Mkoba 14 in Gweru al­legedly left the child with her land­lady pre­tend­ing she would be away for a few min­utes.

Plaxedes Ma­gaya, the land­lady, ended up mak­ing a po­lice re­port af­ter the min­utes turned into days and weeks. Sibanda had al­legedly left the baby with­out food or ex­tra di­a­pers. She ap­peared be­fore mag­is­trate Mrs El­iz­a­beth Magomere charged with ne­glect­ing a baby.

Sibanda pleaded not guilty and the mag­is­trate re­manded her out of cus­tody to today.

Pros­e­cut­ing, Mr Ed­ward Gwainda told the court Sibanda asked Ma­gaya to look af­ter her baby as she was on her way to Mkoba 14 Busi­ness Cen­tre and promised to be back in a mo­ment.

“How­ever the ac­cused per­son never re­turned home and was seen at a lo­cal night club at Mkoba 14 Busi­ness Cen­tre af­ter her land­lady had re­ported the mat­ter to the po­lice,” said Mr Gwainda.

He said Sibanda left home on June 14, 2016 at around 5PM.

The ac­cused per­son never came back un­til Ma­gaya re­ported the case to the po­lice on the June 27, 2016.— @ wyn­nezane
