Foot­ball leg­ends elected into Zifa com­mit­tee

FOOT­BALL leg­ends and re­spected coaches Sun­day Chidzambwa, Rah­man Gumbo and Moses Chunga have been ap­pointed into the Zifa High Per­for­mance Com­mit­tee that will be chaired by the as­so­ci­a­tion’s vice-pres­i­dent Omega Sibanda. Chidzambwa will deputise Sibanda. Other mem­bers of the com­mit­tee in­clude Masimba Chi­howa, In­no­cent Chogugudza and Tawu­rayi Mang­wiro in his ca­pac­ity as Zifa tech­ni­cal di­rec­tor.

“The com­mit­tee will be re­spon­si­ble for as­sess­ing coaches and rec­om­mend­ing them for na­tional du­ties. They will also work closely with na­tional team coaches where they will of­fer tech­ni­cal ad­vice, but not in­ter­fer­ing with the se­lec­tion (process),” said Sibanda.

Zifa also ap­pointed mem­bers of 11 com­mit­tees in a state­ment re­leased by its com­mu­ni­ca­tions man­ager Xolisani Gwe­sela yes­ter­day that sees re­tired ref­er­ees Glad­more Muzambi and one of the best ref­er­ees to emerge from Bu­l­awayo Tha­bani Mnkan­tjo be­ing drafted into the ref­er­ees’ com­mit­tee chaired by Zifa pres­i­dent Philip Chiyangwa.

The ref­er­ees’ com­mit­tee also in­cludes re­tired whistle­men Kainos Mavhuna and Japhet Mu­firi as well as Whawha FC chair­per­son and se­nior pris­ons of­fi­cer Musa Ntonga.

Caf in­struc­tor and veteran coach Gib­son Homela will deputise the Zifa vice-pres­i­dent in the tech­ni­cal and de­vel­op­ment com­mit­tee that also has Wis­dom Simba, Tumediso Ndlovu, Bheki Ny­oni, for­mer Mighty War­riors coach Rose­mary Mu­gadza, for­mer Zifa tech­ni­cal di­rec­tor Nel­son Ma­ton­gorere and Mang­wiro.
