This PSL season is the best in years
EDITOR — This season’s league is proving to be better than all the previous seasons which were not as competitive with Dynamos dominating most seasons prior to the last one.
Although some pundits are lamenting lack of goals, I appreciate the fact that no team can be termed small because middle table teams are showing remarkable levels of resilience.
New coaches like Errol Akbay and emerging tacticians like Lizwe Sweswe are giving long serving mavericks like Moses Chunga, Sunday Chidzambwa and Rahman Gumbo a good run for their money.
This will surely improve the quality of Zimbabwean football even on the national stage.
What is now needed is for the Chiyangwa-led Zifa referees committee to ensure that the officiating tallies with the brilliant performances we are witnessing in the league.
Because at the moment it seems like the referees are doing a disservice to the local game. It won’t be surprising if none of our officials get to be in charge of matches at the forthcoming Afcon finals.
In the same vein, I would like to express joy over Denver Mukamba’s return to his old scoring ways. Watching him weave through the Harare City’s defence brought a sense of nostalgia of the days he used to be a marvel to watch at Rufaro stadium.
I hope his best days are back. John, Via emai
