Moor to captain Zim de­vel­op­ment side

THE Zim­babwe De­vel­op­ment squad started its sec­ond week of prepa­ra­tions to­day for the forth­com­ing home se­ries against the Sri Lanka De­vel­op­ment.

Dou­glas Hondo is coach­ing the side as­sisted by Mid­West Rhi­nos coach Adam Chifo, with two mem­bers of the se­nior na­tional men’s fit­ness trainer Sean Bell and phys­io­ther­a­pist Anesu Mupotaringa.

Wick­et­keeper Peter Joseph Moor cap­tains the side that also in­cludes se­nior play­ers such as top-or­der bats­man Brian Chari, all-rounder Luke Jongwe and bowlers Neville Madziva and Welling­ton Masakadza.

As be­fit­ting a de­vel­op­ment side, there are play­ers such as Stephen Chimhamhiwa, Dy­lan Hondo, Ti­nashe Ka­munhukamwe, Charles Kunje, Nyasha Mayavo, Carl Mumba and Mkhululi Ny­athi, who have shown po­ten­tial at provin­cial level in first class and lim­ited overs for­mats.

The na­tional se­lec­tors now want to see them per­form­ing at the next level.

The de­vel­op­ment side will play a four-day match against Sri Lanka De­vel­op­ment at Harare Sports Club start­ing on Sun­day fol­lowed by three one-day matches on Septem­ber 3, 5 and 7.
