Kibaki re­spond­ing well to treat­ment, say SA doc­tors

NAIROBI — For­mer Kenyan pres­i­dent Mwai Kibaki has been ad­mit­ted to the Netcare Sun­ninghill Hospi­tal in Jo­han­nes­burg.

The re­tired pres­i­dent was taken into the fa­cil­ity on Sun­day for spe­cialised treat­ment af­ter spend­ing the day at Karen Hospi­tal in Nairobi where he had been rushed af­ter suf­fer­ing a mi­nor stroke.

Doc­tors at­tend­ing to him said he was re­spond­ing well to treat­ment, with sources con­firm­ing that he was “awake and talk­ing”.

Ac­cord­ing to Stan­dard, a close as­so­ciate of the fam­ily said that the 84-year-old for­mer leader was in a very up­beat mood and could be dis­charged from the hospi­tal by the end of the week. — News24.
