Chronicle (Zimbabwe) - - Sport - Tobias Mandoreba in Hwange

ARMY outfit Moto Moto shot to the top of the Zifa Matabeleland North Division Two League table for the first time this season after gunning down hapless Trumus Warriors 2-0 at Sports Pavilion at the weekend.

Shaibar Dimingu and Melard Manyevere were on target for the soldiers as Trumus Warriors continued with their alarming dip in form. They suffered a 1-3 whacking by Lukhosi Pirates in the previous week.

Hotspurs Leopards eked out a 1-0 win over stubborn Blackrock, whose agile 17-year-old goalkeeper Matthew Phiri showed signs of a bright future in between the sticks, as he thwarted marauding Leopards strikers with some superb saves. Terrence Netha scored the only goal of the contest watched by a huge crowd.

In Victoria Falls, Mosi Rovers ran riot in a onesided derby as they demolished Corinthians 6-1 at Chinotimba Stadium.

Tyson Ncube scored four times with a goal apiece by Arnold Sibanda and Lifalakwabo Mpofu completing the demolition show.

Later in the day Amagagasi and Classic Luyando played to a goalless draw at the same venue.

On Sunday, Lukhosi Pirates continued with their rich vein of form with a 1-0 home win over Iwisa, courtesy of a lovely strike by Moses Khumalo.

Ingagula have a chance to shoot back to the top of the table if they beat Moto Moto in today’s rearranged fixture at Ingagula Stadium.

In other matches today, Leopards host Hwange Under-17 in Dete, while Baobab Rovers visit Tenax FC at Prison Ground.

The midweek fixtures are a result of some teams having more than three players in the Matabeleland North soccer team that took part in the National Youth Games held in Chinhoyi recently.
