Rebels stretch win­ning streak to 20

THERE was a flurry of goals in the Bu­l­awayo Am­a­teur Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion (Bafa) week­end matches with goal­keep­ers pick­ing the ball out of their nets 25 times.

Four teams reg­is­tered wins, while there were three draws.

The bat­tle be­tween log lead­ers Rebels and sec­ond­placed Lad­uma pro­duced a seven-goal thriller that was even­tu­ally nicked by the for­mer, thanks to an 89th minute goal from Nqo­bile Mh­langa for a 4-3 win.

Rebels opened the scor­ing two min­utes into the match through Charles Phiri be­fore Bren­don Mpala added a sec­ond in the 16th minute.

Lad­uma re­turned from the breather a trans­formed side and they re­duced ar­rears in the 61st minute when Than­dani Math­wasa scored.

Grain Ny­athi added a third goal for Rebels in the 75th minute. How­ever, Lad­uma shot back through a Do­minick Nyika goal in the 78th minute be­fore Phathisani Moyo lev­elled mat­ters four min­utes later.

Mh­langa then sealed the vic­tory in the 89th minute to ex­tend Rebels’ un­de­feated streak to 20.

In other matches, Madamara FC over­came NGA Chron­i­cle 2-1, while SBC Fal­cons beat Safe­guard 2-0 and Anolle Cast­ings beat Vipers 3-2.

Mpilo United’s clash with United FC ended in a goal­less draw, while Eleven Stars and Seven War­riors also shared the spoils fol­low­ing a 2-2 draw. Se­curico and Dy­namic Diesel also drew 2-2. — @khumza­llen
