Dance groups clash at Club 263 Ilanga lead gui­tarist Mbambo dies

OVER 20 Bulawayo dance groups will tonight con­verge at Club 263 for the Bulawayo Dance Fi­esta.

The dance clash to iden­tify the best dance group in the city is be­ing or­gan­ised by Devine As­sign­ments and Dancers As­so­ci­a­tion of Zim­babwe pres­i­dent – Harpers Mapimhidze.

It will fea­ture per­for­mances by Girls La Mu­sica, Bulawayo Queens and Kings, Ez­im­nyama, Sun­gura Mas­ters, Ziyawa Queens, Jaiva Kings, Jaiva Sexy, Magesh, Snipers Crew and Dynamite Chicks. DJs Sweeto and Kead Wikead will be on the decks. Maphimidze said they de­cided to ini­ti­ate the event in Bulawayo af­ter its suc­cess in Harare and had re­ceived an over­whelm­ing re­sponse from dance groups in the City of Kings.

“We’ve ac­cepted more than 20 groups and more are show­ing will­ing­ness to par­tic­i­pate. It prom­ises to be an epic night,” said Mapimhidze.

“We de­cided to host this event in Bulawayo af­ter re­al­is­ing the city didn’t have much en­ter­tain­ment ac­tiv­i­ties dur­ing the week.”

In or­der to cap­ti­vate au­di­ences, the dance groups will dance to two songs only.

“This is not a show, but a gath­er­ing of dance groups in Bulawayo to see which one is the best. Each group will have two songs to prove their worth,” said Mapimhidze. The event is ex­pected to start at 6PM. Mean­while, Mapimhidze who dou­bles up as Bev’s man­ager, said his artiste’s show at Stop Over had been post­poned from Fri­day and would be held in Oc­to­ber.
