Chronicle (Zimbabwe) - - Sport - Allen Khumalo Sports Reporter

HIGHLANDERS Royals finally recorded their first competitive win of the season which came courtesy of a 3-0 win over a stunned ZRP (Byo) on Saturday.

A brace from Diana Rose Banda, daughter to former Highlanders player Tanny and a goal from Nonhlanhla Pfumapano ensured Highlanders Royals grabbed the much needed three points that saw them leapfrog Cowdray Park Queens into 10th place.

Royals’ only other win was courtesy of a walkover over Sobukhazi early into the season.

The police side applied constant pressure during the second half but could not break the victors’ defence.

“The players did well which shows they have matured and are now technically and tactically alert in terms of football.

“It has been a good week for the Highlanders institution as our main side also posted a morale boosting win over Dynamos on Sunday,” said Jackie Ngwenya, the Royals’ manageress.

In other matches, struggling Sobukhazi is still finding life hard in the league when their winless streak stretched to 11 after losing 0-3 to Magwegwe while Hearts of Oak and Inline Academy drew 1-1 in a top of the table clash. — @khumzallen.
