Reserve Afcon place for Matema, Tsipa

EDITOR — Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa is faced with a pleasant headache in his preparations for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations finals.

With Tendai Ndoro in sublime form down south, Nyasha Mushekwi chasing the top goal scorer accolade in his Chinese League and Knowledge Musona finding his footing in the Belgian League, he has an array of good players to select from.

My advice, however, is that he should include one experienced striker in the squad just to add depth. With the way Leonard Tsipa and Ralph Matema have been performing, one of them has to get a spot in the squad.

These are tried and tested performers who can guide the youngsters or provide the much needed guidance when the going gets tough in the African Safari.

Emerging stars like Kuda Mahachi and Khama Billiat are good players but when the game is going against them they easily get frustrated. Same can be said of captain Willard Katsande.

Matema or Tsipa will then come in when the team is struggling just to provide an element of assurance and vision to the squad. Even in the goalkeeping department George Chigova can make a good backup deputy to Mukuruva. Garry Dhliwayo.
