Relocate villagers from airport area

Chronicle (Zimbabwe) - - National News -

EDITOR — Villagers of Lupinyu area near Victoria Falls International Airport need to be relocated as they are too close to the runway. I think a distance of 20km or there about could be ideal.

The airport has been upgraded to meet international standards as a result there is need for safety.

Cattle from the village stray onto the runway despite the beautifully erected perimeter fence. This could be a hazard if not swiftly redressed.

Air buses may develop mechanical faults while landing or taking off thereby injuring villagers and their property.

I contend that Lupinyu villagers should be resettled to safe areas such as Chidobe or B.H 10 leaving the airport a free zone.

Livestock can be a menace to the airport and the issue could be redressed once relocation of people has been done. Admittedly, relocation is costly but we are considering the potential danger which is looming.

Do something about this now. Victor “The Broken Gasket” Sibanda, Victoria Falls
