Savage assault of referee barbaric

Chronicle (Zimbabwe) - - National News -

EDITOR — The assault of the referee in a division one soccer derby at Chinotimba Stadium,Victoria Falls, involving Amagagasi Football Club and Victoria Falls Tigers is greatly uncouth and has no place in football.

I was disappointed that a young aspiring footballer viciously clobbered the otherwise impressive referee, Mr Bekezela Makeka, for deservedly giving him marching orders for a second bookable offence.

Lethukuthaba Mathe, was incensed by the red card and savagely punched Makeka in full view of a capacity crowd who had thronged the stadium to watch football not a boxing encounter.

Mathe is not fit to be a football player judging by the way he was unleashing a salvo of blows to the referee. I suggest that he should try wrestling or venture into boxing where he will certainly amass a lot of silverware than in soccer.

Stern measures should be visited on Mathe as a way of curtailing such unruly behaviour in the beautiful game of football. I submit without fear or favour that all those who were involved should face the full wrath of the law.

Do something please . Victor “The Broken Gasket” Sibanda, Victoria Falls
