Over 700 get stands in Gweru

MORE than 700 peo­ple have been al­lo­cated stands in Gweru, among them civil ser­vants.

The Zim­babwe Hous­ing Project Trust which is rolling out the hous­ing project has a tar­get to avail 10 000 stands in the Mid­lands prov­ince.

On Satur­day, 500 peo­ple were al­lo­cated stands in For­tune Mead­ow­lands Park, a medium den­sity sub­urb in Gweru.

This fol­lowed an­other hand-over cer­e­mony on Wed­nes­day and Mon­day last week which saw 32 stands be­ing handed to Cha­pungu Foot­ball Club play­ers and an­other 200 to Zim­babwe na­tional army mem­bers in the same sub­urb.

Speak­ing to The Chron­i­cle (ZHPT) Mid­lands Branch Man­ager Mr Jame­son Museke said ben­e­fi­cia­ries of the stands were con­tribut­ing $65 per month and the stands cost $5 000 each.

He said the last al­lo­ca­tion which was done on Satur­day ben­e­fited Zim­babwe Elec­tric­ity Trans­mis­sion and Dis­tri­bu­tion Com­pany (ZETDC) em­ploy­ees.

“On Satur­day we distributed 500 stands to ZETDC em­ploy­ees and soon the stands will be ready for con­struc­tion. We wil soon ser­vice the stands,” said Mr Museke. — @ patiemt­siwi
