Bu­l­awayo Town Clerk to start work to­day

BU­L­AWAYO’s new Town Clerk Mr Christo­pher Dube (55) is ex­pected to start work to­day.

The Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Board re­cently ap­proved his ap­point­ment to re­place the late Mid­dle­ton Ny­oni who died in Septem­ber last year.

In an in­ter­view yes­ter­day, Mr Dube said he was ready to start work. “I am fairly new and can­not say much be­sides that I am start­ing work to­mor­row and I am ready for it,” said Mr Dube.

A keen ten­nis player, Mr Dube was born in Nkayi in 1961 and is mar­ried, with four chil­dren. A re­tired army ma­jor, Mr Dube worked in the fi­nance depart­ment of the Zim­babwe Na­tional Army be­tween 1980 and 1997.

Be­tween 2003 and 2008, Mr Dube was a di­rec­tor of fi­nance in the Min­istry of Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment, Pub­lic Works and Na­tional Hous­ing. In 2009, he was ap­pointed Vic­to­ria Falls Town Trea­surer and in May 2014, be­came Town Clerk in the re­sort town.

The new Bu­l­awayo Town Clerk holds a law de­gree from the Uni­ver­sity of South Africa, has a Mas­ters de­gree in Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion ob­tained from the Zim­babwe Open Uni­ver­sity (Zou) and a Diploma in Busi­ness Lead­er­ship from the Zim­babwe In­sti­tute of Man­age­ment.

He also holds a Char­tered In­sti­tute of Sec­re­taries (CIS) Diploma, a Higher Na­tional Diploma in busi­ness stud­ies from the Bu­l­awayo Polytech­nic and a Lon­don Cham­ber of Com­merce (LCC) cer­tifi­cate in pub­lic re­la­tions. — @ thamamoe
