ZRU holds tri­als in Byo

ZIM­BABWE Rugby Union (ZRU) will hold a se­nior men’s na­tional team trial when the North­ern Se­lect clashes with the South­ern Se­lect at Harts­field Ground in Bu­l­awayo to­mor­row.

Harare play­ers will dom­i­nate the North­ern se­lect with Bu­l­awayo, Gweru, Masvingo and Zvisha­vane play­ers mak­ing up the South­ern se­lect squad.

Craig Change, the Mata­bele­land Rugby Foot­ball Board (MRFB) sec­re­tary-gen­eral, said they are happy the na­tional team tri­als were be­ing held in Bu­l­awayo, as it presents play­ers from the south­ern re­gion a chance to show­case their skills.

“Satur­day is go­ing to be an ex­cit­ing rugby day for sports lovers as we host the na­tional team tri­als where the country’s best play­ers will face off in a North ver­sus South game. Play­ers from the south­ern re­gion have been long­ing to play for the na­tional team and as MRFB we’re grate­ful to ZRU for fa­cil­i­tat­ing this na­tional tri­als com­pe­ti­tion.

Hope­fully the guys from this part of the country will rise up to the chal­lenge and im­press na­tional team coaches,” said Change.

Sea­soned gaffer Gil­bert Nya­mut­samba took the South­ern Re­gion Se­lect side through their paces at Harts­field Ground yes­ter­day.

Change said the MRFB’s Un­der21 team will play var­sity se­lect in the main cur­tain raiser that starts at 2PM. — @ZililoR
