Blanket, Tongogara in tricky encounter

Chronicle (Zimbabwe) - - Sport - Lovemore Zigara in Gweru

SEASONED campaigner and Blanket Mine goal poacher Simbarashe Zimora has rallied his fellow teammates to come to the party as the side faces another tricky assignment when they host fourth placed Tongogara in a Zifa Central Soccer League encounter at Blanket today.

Zimora has seen action with Motor Action and Whawha in the topflight league.

The gold miners suffered a major setback in their quest for a maiden Premiership appearance in the topflight league when they went down 0–1 to Shabanie Mine, a result which saw them relinquishing pole position.

Zimora, who has been the leading light at Blanket where he has netted over 12 goals, believes his side has got the pedigree to pip Shabanie Mine to the championship.

“We have worked hard all season and if there is a God up there. I believe he is watching us and will guide us so that we win the championship. What we now need is to believe in ourselves and put in that extra effort.

“The game against Tongogara is a tricky affair but we have prepared well for the encounter. We are seeking nothing short of maximum points so that we put the pressure on Shabanie Mine and hopefully they will slip up along the way,” said Zimora.

However, with five rounds of matches to go, Tongogara, who are on fourth position with 47 points, seven points adrift of log leaders Shabanie, will still fancy their chances of winning the championship right from under their noses.

A win for Tongogara will reduce the gap between them and Blanket Mine to just two points and the soldiers know that the battle is still far from over. —
