Bunjira calls on Caps fans to come in numbers

CAPS United legend Alois Bunjira has called on the Green Machine fans to throng the National Sports Stadium and rally behind the boys as they take on crestfallen Dynamos tomorrow afternoon.

“We are almost there,” said Bunjira in an emotional Facebook post, which can indeed invoke memories of the Charles Mhlauri era which saw Caps United becoming almost invincible.

Caps United enjoy a two-point lead at the top with just four games remaining.

In an inspirational message, the retired dribbling wizard said Caps United needed every support and noise that it can get from its followers.

“This is one game we need to outnumber the Dynamos fans. Caps United has millions of fans but we average 5 000 per game, at this moment we need every Caps United fan to come to the stadium,” wrote Bunjira.

The rivalry between the two sides need not to be told, it is fierce, it is mean, it’s unrivalled and it’s usually full of thrills and indeed spills.

Makepekepe are in a dog eat dog situation with cash rich Zvishavane-based FC Platinum who had control of the proceedings until one Moses Chunga, the Harare City coach, came along. He handed them not only a 1-2 loss but a red card as well — shown to former Tsholotsho player Gerald Takwara.

Highlanders, ruled out of the race by many after that cruel entry into the second half of the season, are third and three points behind the Lloyd Chitembwe-coached Harare side.

Caps’ destiny is certainly in their own hands now; win their games and never worry about how the other two rivals perform.

It is that which makes Bunjira believe this indeed is their year. Unedited Bunjira Facebook post. “We play Dynamos this coming Sunday. This is one of our biggest days as Caps United in a long time. We get into this game at this time of the year as log leaders and title contenders, unlike the other years. This is one hurdle we must overleap. This is one game we need all our fans to come to the stadium to support the team. This is one game we need to outnumber the Dynamos fans. Caps United has millions of fans but we only average 5 000 fans per home game. Very bad. At this moment we need every Caps United fan to come to the stadium. All those Facebook fans. All those Social Media fans. All those office fans. All those pub fans. All those armchair fans. All those lady fans who have never been to the stadium. We sincerely call upon all those fans to throng the National Sports Stadium and join the regulars in supporting the boys. We are so close. At the beginning of the season we declared that 2016 is our year. Let us all push in that direction. Let us outnumber the DeMbare fans and make more noise and cheers. The boys need that. We are so close to the promised land. Wherever you maybe, from around Zimbabwe or neighbouring countries, please make an effort to come to the stadium and make your voice heard. We want this. We need this. We are almost there. We all know that the Dynamos fans would rather have a different team win the league and they will come in numbers to push their team to throw in the spanners. Let us counter that on Sunday. In the Green Machine I trust. Do you? Let us paint the National Sports Stadium green.”
