SOUTH AFRICA took max­i­mum value from the first two-day match of their Aus­tralian tour as they swiftly bowled out a youth­ful Cricket Aus­tralia XI yes­ter­day.

The Proteas bat­ted first, com­pil­ing 415 be­fore be­ing dis­missed in the 90th over of the first day.

Quin­ton de Kock re­tired on 122, JP Du­miny scored 97 and Hashim Amla re­tired on 51.

Arjun Nair, Ryan Lees and Tom O’Don­nell each picked up two wick­ets for the CA XI.

In re­ply, the CA XI was dis­missed for just 103 on day two, with South Africa’s five quicks - Dale Steyn, Ver­non Phi­lan­der, Kag­iso Rabada, Morne Morkel and Kyle Ab­bott - each pick­ing up two wick­ets.

CA XI skipper Matthew Short scored 57 of his side’s to­tal be­fore be­ing the last man dis­missed.

South Africa bat­ted a se­cond time, reach­ing 5-181 in 44 overs be­fore the match ended in a draw.

Rilee Rous­sow top-scored with 77 re­tired, with four CA XI bowlers each pick­ing up a wicket.
