Top DJ com­mits sui­cide

A TOP Kwekwe DJ al­legedly hanged him­self from a tree on Sun­day fol­low­ing a mis­un­der­stand­ing with his mother.

Gil­bert Clever Mu­tum­budze (28), pop­u­larly known as DJ Killer at Club Mojo where he prac­tised his craft, is al­leged to have threat­ened to com­mit sui­cide af­ter his mother cen­sured him for way­ward be­hav­iour.

Mid­lands po­lice spokesper­son In­spec­tor Joel Goko said: “I can con­firm that we are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a sui­cide case that oc­curred on Sun­day in Mbizo where Mu­tum­budze hanged him­self af­ter hav­ing a mis­un­der­stand­ing with his mother.”

Sources close to the case said the DJ had a mis­un­der­stand­ing with his mother who was try­ing to re­strain him from con­sum­ing too much al­co­hol and sleep­ing out.

“The de­ceased was a drunk­ard who at times spent the whole week sleep­ing in a beer­hall. On Sun­day his mother tried to coun­sel him,” said the source.

“He then threat­ened to com­mit sui­cide and hours later he was found hang­ing from a tree branch by a passerby,” said the source. — @patiemt­siwi
