Zim squad fails to impress at All-Africa Pool Black­ball Cham­pi­onship

THE Zim­babwe squad failed to impress at the Al­lAfrica Pool As­so­ci­a­tion Black­ball Cham­pi­onships held in Uganda last week, with only Adriel Shuma reach­ing the semi-fi­nals in the men’s sin­gles where he was knocked out by God­frey Set­tumba of Uganda.

In team events, the Zim­babwe men’s side came third with eight points, four be­hind win­ners and hosts Uganda, while South Africa were sec­ond with nine points. Zam­bia were fourth with six points and Kenya emerged last with four points.

In the ladies sec­tion, Uganda were again tops with 10 points, fol­lowed by South Africa with eight points and Zim­babwe on six points.

Zim­babwe Ladies’ cap­tain Chris­tine Sengwe was knocked out in the last ses­sion by South Africa’s Tas­neem Solomons, who beat her 3-0, while the duo of Tariro Vhondo and Abi­gail Sendi also lost by iden­ti­cal 1-3 scores to Ugan­dans Jus­tine Nam­peenwa and Rose Na­mugerwa re­spec­tively.

Priscilla Lunga was the best per­form­ing Zim­bab­wean lady, los­ing 1-3 in the quar­ter-fi­nals to Na­mugerwa. — @to­by­man­dox.
