Moto Moto set to be cham­pi­ons

ARMY side Moto Moto FC look set to be crowned Zifa Matabeleland North Di­vi­sion Two League cham­pi­ons de­spite a 2-2 draw against a stub­born Hwange Un­der-17 at Sports Pav­il­ion on Satur­day.

Reg­u­lar scor­ers Clif­ford Phiri and Gift Sibanda were on tar­get for Moto Moto, who took their points tally to 55 with two matches left, while the Hwange de­vel­op­men­tal side scored cour­tesy of a Romeo Matsa brace.

Sec­ond-placed Mosi Rovers, who are a point be­hind the sol­diers, con­tin­ued with their brave fight for hon­ours with a derby win over Tru­mus War­riors at Chino­timba Sta­dium, thanks to Tha­bani Ndlovu’s soli­tary goal.

Third-placed Baobab Rovers kept their faint hopes of achiev­ing glory alive by edg­ing Black­rock 2-1 at Lwen­dulu Old ground in Hwange.

Bran­don Phiri and Stan­ford Ma­hachi were on tar­get for Rovers, while Black­rock scored through de­fender Kumbi­rai Karuwo.

Lukhosi Pi­rates and vis­it­ing Hot­spurs Leop­ards shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, with the hosts scor­ing through Moses Khu­malo and Gwinyai Makaranga net­ting for Leop­ards.

In a re­ar­ranged fix­ture, Clas­sic Luyando beat Hwange Un­der-17 2-1 at Chino­timba Sta­dium with Hil­ton Gomba and Craig Dina on tar­get for the vic­tors and Kudzanai Matanda scor­ing for Hwange.

Mean­while, the fu­ture of base­ment sides Corinthi­ans and Iwisa in the league are hang­ing by the thread af­ter both teams were walked over by In­gaguga FC and Ama­ga­gasi Un­der-19 re­spec­tively on 3-0 score lines to stay in the red zone.
