Moto Moto set to be champions
ARMY side Moto Moto FC look set to be crowned Zifa Matabeleland North Division Two League champions despite a 2-2 draw against a stubborn Hwange Under-17 at Sports Pavilion on Saturday.
Regular scorers Clifford Phiri and Gift Sibanda were on target for Moto Moto, who took their points tally to 55 with two matches left, while the Hwange developmental side scored courtesy of a Romeo Matsa brace.
Second-placed Mosi Rovers, who are a point behind the soldiers, continued with their brave fight for honours with a derby win over Trumus Warriors at Chinotimba Stadium, thanks to Thabani Ndlovu’s solitary goal.
Third-placed Baobab Rovers kept their faint hopes of achieving glory alive by edging Blackrock 2-1 at Lwendulu Old ground in Hwange.
Brandon Phiri and Stanford Mahachi were on target for Rovers, while Blackrock scored through defender Kumbirai Karuwo.
Lukhosi Pirates and visiting Hotspurs Leopards shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, with the hosts scoring through Moses Khumalo and Gwinyai Makaranga netting for Leopards.
In a rearranged fixture, Classic Luyando beat Hwange Under-17 2-1 at Chinotimba Stadium with Hilton Gomba and Craig Dina on target for the victors and Kudzanai Matanda scoring for Hwange.
Meanwhile, the future of basement sides Corinthians and Iwisa in the league are hanging by the thread after both teams were walked over by Ingaguga FC and Amagagasi Under-19 respectively on 3-0 score lines to stay in the red zone.
