The SRC says the extension was at the request of the associations. As a result, the unveiling of the nominees has been moved from November 23 to November 25 at the SRC head office in Harare.

“We would, however, like to implore the remaining national sports associations to take advantage of this opening and submit their nominations before the deadline to avoid any challenges,” said SRC corporate communications officer Tinashe Nheweyembwa.

The date for the ANSA ceremony is unaffected and remains December 14 at a Harare hotel.

Associations that have so far submitted their nominations include BMX, Zimbabwe Shooting Federation, Zimbabwe Aquatic Union, Zimbabwe Karate Union, Hockey Association of Zimbabwe, Squash, Wheelchair and Hand Cycling Association of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Netball Association.
