Sibanda: Leopards ready for Division one

Chronicle (Zimbabwe) - - Sport - Allen Khumalo Sports Reporter

ZIM Leopards manager Leonard Sibanda has said his team was ready for Division One football after snatching the last promotional ticket in the Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two with a 2-0 win over White Birds on Saturday at Iminyela.

Goals from Charles Maphosa and Leonard Chitembure led the side to its most important victory yet.

Leopards join league winners Chiwororo, who won promotion with two games to spare.

The season ended with Chiwororo topping the table on 67 points followed by Zim Leopards with 59 and LG Vultures on 57.

Sibanda believes they will be tough competitors in the First Division next year.

“This has been our aim since the beginning of the league, so it’s a dream come true. I am 100 percent confident that the team is ready for the challenge.

“The fact that we managed to pass this stage (Division Two) means we can also do the same in the First Division although it won’t be easy.

“The team has done a lot and we wouldn’t have come this far without their hard work. We had a number of players going to other teams, but the boys stood firm and produced the needed results,” said Sibanda.

CIWU and East Rovers face the chop after finishing at the other end of the table with 21 points and 26 points respectively. — @khumzallen
