Robbery cases need attention

Chronicle (Zimbabwe) - - National News -

EDITOR — In the wake of recent robbery reports which seem to be on the increase, I would like to suggest that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) set up a taskforce that deals with those issues specifically.

It is disturbing to wake up to reports of robbery trials every week, it makes it difficult to assume safety when moving around.

With the current banking challenges faced in the country, it is easy for one to become a target for these robbers.

An awareness campaign needs to be launched, coupled with a crackdown on those known to be participating in robberies.

These stories were isolated in Zimbabwe a few years back, months would pass without one reading about a robbery in the press.

Greed seems to be infiltrating our society as some are looking to make a quick buck without following the hard work usually involved in earning money.

Our country is known as one of the safest countries in the region. It is the citizenry’s duty led by the police, to make sure that the status is not lost.

I have faith in our law enforcement and believe that this recent scourge will soon be a thing of the past. Kumbirai Maringwa.
