Mighty Warriors story needs further probing

Chronicle (Zimbabwe) - - National News -

EDITOR — After Tuesday’s shocking refereeing decision against the Mighty Warriors I am now convinced that there is a conspiracy against Zimbabwe in the sporting fraternity.

There is no justification as to why our goal, scored by Felistas Muzongondi, was disallowed, offside surely cannot be a reason as there were Egyptian defenders covering the line.

Neither can we attribute the injustice to infringement as the goal scorer made a long run from deep within the field.

It must have shocked some that the team they thought would be the whipping girls of the group is going pound for pound with the so-called continental giants.

Of course, demoralising them through disallowing a clear goal was the only way out for the Egyptians.

As usual, the referee will apologise but that will not aide our progression in any way, it also will not redeem our lost points.

It seems there is a deliberate plot to oust some countries from tournaments through dubious decisions which are only punished by hearings and suspensions and nothing is done to compensate the aggrieved team.If African football is to have any sense, this level of cheating needs to be eliminated.
