Chronicle (Zimbabwe) - - National News - Tanaka Mrewa Court Reporter

ELITE High School headmaster, Nevson Gonese (47), allegedly beat the daylights out of his wife after he came home drunk and accused her of having an extra marital affair with a city doctor.

Gonese, the court heard, lost his marbles when his wife Ms Cecilia Dube (37) received airtime from a Dr Nyabadza at around 11PM. It is alleged that he punched and slapped Ms Dube and threatened to stab her with a knife. He allegedly locked her outside the house all night. Two days later they argued again and he chased her around the house with a kitchen knife threatening to stab her. He had allegedly accused his wife of being a “prostitute,” claiming that she was having an extra marital affair with the doctor.

Gonese has his wife to thank after she spared him a probable jail sentence after she withdrew the physical abuse charges.

The matter was withdrawn before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Tinashe Tashaya on Tuesday.

“Your Worship we have spoken this over with my husband and everything is back to normal. I have forgiven him and I believe he won’t hit me again,” she said.

Prosecuting, Mr Nkathazo Dlodlo told the court that on Friday last week at around 11PM, a heated argument arose after Dube received dollar airtime through Eco-cash.

“Accused person came home drunk and accused complainant of being a prostitute. He went to the kitchen, got a knife and chased her around the house threatening to stab her.

“Two days earlier he had chased her from the house at night accusing her of engaging in an extra marital affair. Complainant spent the night outside after he beat her up,” said Mr Dlodlo. — @ tannytkay
