BU­L­AWAYO, Mon­day, Septem­ber 14, 1992 — The Zim­babwe Repub­lic Po­lice As­sur­ance Fund of­fices will go with­out wa­ter for nearly a year af­ter mu­nic­i­pal wa­ter sup­plies were dis­con­nected as a penalty for ex­ces­sive wa­ter use, ac­cord­ing to the lat­est coun­cil min­utes.

Seven other po­lice sta­tions and the Zim­babwe Na­tional Army’s 1 Bri­gade Head­quar­ters would go with­out wa­ter for pe­ri­ods rang­ing from five days to four months.

The ZRP As­sur­ance Fund of­fices in Deav­ille Court will have wa­ter sup­plies dis­con­nected for 356 days and ZRP’s Drill Hall will be with­out wa­ter for 26 days.

Wa­ter to Hill­side, En­tum­bane, Mabutweni and Mzi­likazi po­lice sta­tions would be cut for a to­tal of 30 days and 1 Bri­gade Head­quar­ters will have no wa­ter for 123 days.

Nku­lumane Po­lice Sta­tion will be with­out wa­ter for 102 days and wa­ter to Western Com­mon­age Po­lice Sta­tion will be dis­con­nected for nine days.

The coun­cil re­cently adopted a pol­icy to dis­con­nect wa­ter for a pe­riod equat­ing to the num­ber of days of over-con­sump­tion to all in­dus­trial, com­mer­cial and other bulk me­tered con­sumers who overuse wa­ter.
