BULAWAYO, Monday, September 14, 1992 — The Zimbabwe Republic Police Assurance Fund offices will go without water for nearly a year after municipal water supplies were disconnected as a penalty for excessive water use, according to the latest council minutes.
Seven other police stations and the Zimbabwe National Army’s 1 Brigade Headquarters would go without water for periods ranging from five days to four months.
The ZRP Assurance Fund offices in Deaville Court will have water supplies disconnected for 356 days and ZRP’s Drill Hall will be without water for 26 days.
Water to Hillside, Entumbane, Mabutweni and Mzilikazi police stations would be cut for a total of 30 days and 1 Brigade Headquarters will have no water for 123 days.
Nkulumane Police Station will be without water for 102 days and water to Western Commonage Police Station will be disconnected for nine days.
The council recently adopted a policy to disconnect water for a period equating to the number of days of over-consumption to all industrial, commercial and other bulk metered consumers who overuse water.
