Technology: Answer to bad handwriting
EDITOR — As we now live in a techology-driven world, it is very easy to address the issue of bad handwriting by lawyers. We can make use of technology to avert the situation.
Recently, a High Court judge said illegible handwriting by some magistrates together with negligence on the part of prosecutors was the major reasons why bail applications unnecessarily drag in violation of the suspects’ right to liberty.
If we make use of computers the whole process of bail applications will become easy and efficient as the computer accounts for everything including details of the suspect.
This initiative will protect suspects and other detained members from staying longer than they should in jail.
Universities, in a bid to avoid struggling with incomprehensive handwriting, embraced technology such that students submit assignments through email or in printed version.
The judiciary should embrace new information communication technology to make life easier for legal experts and for ensuring accountability in terms of record keeping.
This will certainly enhance judiciary service delivery. Chamunorwa Gato
