Benni faces PSL mu­sic

CAPE Town City coach, Benni McCarthy, will have his first run-in with the Pre­mier Soc­cer League af­ter be­ing hauled into a dis­ci­plinary hear­ing next Tues­day.

McCarthy will ap­pear along with his club Cape Town City af­ter he called ref­eree Phillip Tinyani a “cow” fol­low­ing the 2-1 loss to Chippa United on Oc­to­ber 21.

“Mr Benni McCarthy and the club have been charged with con­tra­ven­ing the Rule 54.3.6 of the NSL Hand­book fol­low­ing Mr McCarthy’s post-match comments di­rected at match of­fi­cial Mr Phillip Tinyani at the Sisa Dukashe Sta­dium af­ter the club’s fix­ture against Chippa United on 22 Oc­to­ber 2017. The mat­ter will ap­pear next week Tues­day,” the PSL con­firmed in a me­dia re­lease on Tues­day.

McCarthy was asked in the post-match in­ter­view about Tinyani’s per­for­mance and sim­ply re­sponded: “Don’t ask me about that cow.”

Also ap­pear­ing in front of the league’s DC next Tues­day are Plat­inum Stars, who are charged “fail­ing to sub­mit their pro­vi­sional squad list ahead of their fix­ture against Mar­itzburg United on 27 Oc­to­ber 2017 at Harry Gwala Sta­dium”. — Mzansi Fot­tball.
