Benni faces PSL music
CAPE Town City coach, Benni McCarthy, will have his first run-in with the Premier Soccer League after being hauled into a disciplinary hearing next Tuesday.
McCarthy will appear along with his club Cape Town City after he called referee Phillip Tinyani a “cow” following the 2-1 loss to Chippa United on October 21.
“Mr Benni McCarthy and the club have been charged with contravening the Rule 54.3.6 of the NSL Handbook following Mr McCarthy’s post-match comments directed at match official Mr Phillip Tinyani at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium after the club’s fixture against Chippa United on 22 October 2017. The matter will appear next week Tuesday,” the PSL confirmed in a media release on Tuesday.
McCarthy was asked in the post-match interview about Tinyani’s performance and simply responded: “Don’t ask me about that cow.”
Also appearing in front of the league’s DC next Tuesday are Platinum Stars, who are charged “failing to submit their provisional squad list ahead of their fixture against Maritzburg United on 27 October 2017 at Harry Gwala Stadium”. — Mzansi Fottball.
