Ac­tress to re­lease sin­gle

SOUTH Africa-based DJ Shar­maine Va­lerie Vera who once ap­peared in theSouth African soapie Rhythm City for two months play­ing the role of Miss Mh­longo is go­ing to re­lease her de­but sin­gle next month ti­tled ‘‘Maria’’.

‘‘Well, I have been performing as a DJ for an artiste for the past four years. This year I de­cided to go solo to focus more on my­self hence I am re­leas­ing my de­but sin­gle next month. I just want to put my coun­try on the map be­cause my aim is to get us recog­nised in the in­dus­try, not just Zim­babwe or South Africa but Africa as a whole,” she said.

DJ Vera is go­ing to launch the new sin­gle on dif­fer­ent on­line sites which in­clude au­diomark, sound­cloud, data file host and iTunes where peo­ple will be able to stream and down­load the song. She will also playlist the song on ra­dio sta­tions in South Africa, Zim­babwe and Swazi­land .

Vera is a vi­brant young lady of Zam­bia and Zim­bab­wean ori­gins, be­ing the last born in a fam­ily of three girls. She was born in Hwange and grew up in Mag­wegwe in Bu­l­awayo and re­lo­cated to South Africa where she did her ma­tric. Vera en­rolled at Unisa for a de­gree in Net­work­ing. She went on to ven­ture into act­ing on TV soapies such as Scan­dal, Ink­aba, Isidingo as an ex­tra and had an ex­tended pe­riod with Rhythm City.
