Singh, Maku­vaza in ten­nis fi­nals

ZIM­BABWE’S Vikram Singh from Harare Ta­ble Ten­nis As­so­ci­a­tion will be ex­pected to de­fend his China Zim­babwe ta­ble ten­nis tour­na­ment ti­tle when he squares off with Wang Lip­ing in to­day’s men fi­nals at Belvedere Teach­ers Col­lege.

Singh won the first edi­tion of the tour­na­ment last year and has man­aged to make it all the way to the fi­nal this year again.

Lip­ing will fea­ture in the fi­nal for the first time af­ter he was elim­i­nated in the semi-fi­nals last year.

The tour­na­ment, which be­gan yes­ter­day, will end to­day with all the fi­nals of men, women and the dou­bles.

Last year China dom­i­nated pro­ceed­ings by win­ning both the men and dou­bles fi­nals while Zim­babwe won the women fi­nals.

Zhan Yang will meet Zim­babwe’s Vim­bai Maku­vaza in the women’s fi­nal ex­pected to be a thriller.

Yang is the de­fend­ing champion while Mid­lands State Univer­sity stu­dent Maku­vaza will be fight­ing to grab the ti­tle.
