GUTU, 15 November 1992. — The Gutu District Council says that development of Gutu-Mupandawana Growth Point has been adversely affected by the absence of a strong industrial base while the tight monetary situation prevailing in the country has forced it to postpone some projects.
The council is desperate for money to boost the centre’s flagging development programmes. The money could be provided through soft loans or grants.
A report prepared by the council says Mupandawana was heavily dependent on Government loans to fund capital development programmes but inadequate injections of money blocked the speed development of the industrial and commercial sectors.
