Polytech­nic prin­ci­pal, Ms Pon­iso Watema, was named the Out­stand­ing Pub­lic Ser­vice Leader of the Year 2017 at the Me­gafest Women’s awards held in Harare re­cently. Ms Watema was recog­nised for cham­pi­oning and pro­mot­ing cor­po­rate gov­er­nance. After re­ceiv­ing her award, Ms Watema, said she was both proud and hum­bled by the recog­ni­tion.

MUTARE Polytech­nic prin­ci­pal, Ms Pon­iso Watema, was named the Out­stand­ing Pub­lic Ser­vice Leader of the Year 2017 at the Me­gafest Women’s awards held in Harare re­cently.

Ms Watema was recog­nised for cham­pi­oning and pro­mot­ing cor­po­rate gov­er­nance.

After re­ceiv­ing her award, Ms Watema, said she was both proud and hum­bled by the recog­ni­tion.

“As a col­lege, we con­sis­tently strive to de­liver out­stand­ing train­ing to in­di­vid­u­als and em­ploy­ees across Zim­babwe. I per­son­ally never tire in pro­mot­ing and cham­pi­oning good cor­po­rate gov­er­nance in the ar­eas that I lead,” she said.

The chair­man and founder of the Me­gafets Awards, Mr Tafadzwa Mat­sika, said Ms Watema was a vi­sion­ary leader.

“She is a truly in­spi­ra­tional fig­ure who will only ac­cept the best. She has demon­strated this in her work with stu­dents, em­ploy­ees and the com­mu­nity in which she works,” Mr Mat­sika said.

Ms Watema has won sev­eral awards in recog­ni­tion of her work and is one of the best known and highly-re­spected fig­ures in the tech­ni­cal and vo­ca­tional ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor in Zim­babwe.

Mega Fest Hold­ings, a Con­sult­ing and Con­fer­enc­ing Com­pany, also hon­oured sev­eral other women who have made sig­nif­i­cant achieve­ments in their par­tic­u­lar fields of pro­fes­sion.
