Let’s do the exceptional

The Sunday Mail (Zimbabwe) - - COMMENT -

EDITOR — This is in response to the article “Town Clerk: The search is on”.

Discourse continues around the subject. I say the solution lies with all of us in Harare. We are the ones to bring out the good or bad in us. I agree that the list of candidates is not inspiring.

It’s time we do the exceptional for once. There is a Zimbabwean out there somewhere who can make Harare a world class city. Let’s put all our efforts into finding that person. I challenge all Harare residents to go beyond colour or creed, and bring the best Zimbabwe is giving to the rest of the world.

A son/daughter of the soil regardless of their colour who can do the job and take us a step closer to making the doorway to the land of milk and honey. Let the search be bold enough. If the list is uninspiring, let’s start afresh, and as I said before, let’s headhunt.

We know what we want and I don’t think we will get the best by floating an advert. What Zimbabwe, Harare needs now can only be found through head-hunting.

They are out there and waiting for us to let them know we have their back if they take the step to take up positions of leadership.

“Nyika vanhu, musha Matare”. Let the dialogue continue for the sake of our people. Wilson Magaya
