REISSUES ROUND UP Neil Young, The Beatles, David Bowie, Nico and more
THERE seems to be no end to the stellar records still to be celebrated or rediscovered these days, and 2024 is already promising some gems. Neil Young’s Archives III is likely to finally see the light of day after a number of delays, while alongside the aforementioned
Rubber Soul redux, other Fabs-related releases due to hit shelves are deluxe versions of John Lennon’s Mind Games (June) and George Harrison’s
The Concert For Bangladesh.
It could be an expensive year for Bowie fans, with the longexpected Ziggy Stardust box likely to arrive, and perhaps even the final ‘era’ boxset covering Heathen to Blackstar later in the year. After the success of the Who’s Next/ Life House deluxe set recently, we wouldn’t rule out another bells-and-whistles box from
The Who either. Perhaps most intriguingly,
Anne Briggs’ superb self-titled
1971 debut is to be reissued in the spring, with a bonus 7” of previously unheard material; check next month’s Uncut for a little more on that.
Domino will reissue some of
Nico’s finest solo work this spring, while Light In The Attic are giving a first vinyl release to Lou Reed’s final album, the ambient Hudson River Wind Meditations (Jan 12), alongside deluxe reissues of some more Lee Hazlewood and
Nancy Sinatra solo classics.
Marianne Faithfull’s earliest records are set for repress, along with Julian Cope’s entire ’80s catalogue and
Peter Hammill’s intimidatingly excellent ’70s solo albums. On a US indie tip, Matador will reissue Sonic Youth’s The Eternal and Interpol’s Antics in the second half of 2024, complete with bonus material, plus a tranche of Butthole Surfers LPS and a limited box of Pavement’s complete seven-inches, and there’ll be a first release for an unheard classic by Josephine Foster’s former project The Children’s Hour on Sea Note.
