PressReader - Tke Channel - Former soldier thankful for VAC
I often read in your paper about complaints against Veterans Affairs Canada or the manner in which VAC handle matters. VAC, of course, is at a disadvantage, because they cannot normally defend themselves due to provisions of the Privacy Act and must remain silent.I can, however, speak of my personal experience with VAC, having served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 42 years, which included a tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 2006.Having retired from the military almost three years ago, I can report that VAC has been extremely helpful in assisting me transition to civilian life and addressing some issues relating to my military service. I am very thankful for the services VAC has and provides to me through my case manager.VAC cares and has done its utmost to help this former soldier! Randall C. Smith, Lieutenant-Colonel (Retired), Ottawa
