Ten chil­dren were killed and 10 oth­ers crit­i­cally in­jured af­ter a bus fell into a ravine in a re­mote for­est area of Dang district in In­dia’s south Gu­jarat state on Satur­day evening, lo­cal me­dia the In­dian Ex­press re­ported. About 60 stu­dents have been res­cued and ad­mit­ted to lo­cal hos­pi­tals, and res­cue op­er­a­tions are un­der­way to find three miss­ing stu­dents, district ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fi­cials were quoted as say­ing. The ac­ci­dent took place be­tween Ma­hal and Badri­pada for­est area af­ter the driver lost con­trol of the bus car­ry­ing more than 70 stu­dents of a coach­ing class in Am­roli area of Su­rat, po­lice sources said. A man who shot dead five peo­ple and wounded 11 oth­ers at a famed Christ­mas mar­ket in the eastern French city of Stras­bourg had pledged al­le­giance to the Is­lamic State group in a video, a ju­di­cial source said on Satur­day. The video was found in a USB key be­long­ing to Cherif Chekatt, 29, who was shot and killed by po­lice af­ter a two-day man­hunt in the city fol­low­ing the De­cem­ber 11 at­tack. The Is­lamic State group claimed Chekatt was one of their “fight­ers”, but this was dis­missed by French In­te­rior Min­is­ter Christophe Cas­taner. Chekatt was buried on Satur­day in Stras­bourg “in strict anonymity”, the city hall said.
