PASO results confirmed: Fernández defeats Macri by four million votes

Peronist presidenti­al candidate Alberto Fernández stretched his lead over President Mauricio Macri by four million votes (4,092,625) in this month’s primary vote, according to finalised voting results released today by the government.

According to the final results seen by Noticias Argentinas, the Peronist leader obtained slightly over 12million votes (12,215,099) throughout the country.

The current president garnered just over eight million votes (8,122,474).

The provisiona­l count, put out by the Government, accounted for 98.67 percent of votes. According to those numbers, Fernández recorded 47.65 percent of the vote compared to Macri’s 32.08 percent.

The confirmed tallies also confirm the names of the candidates that will appear on the ballot in October’s general election. Candidates who won more than 1.5 percent of the vote include Consenso Federal’s Robert Lavagna, Frente de Izquierda y de los Trabajador­es’s Nicolás del Caño, Frente NOS’ Jo séGómezC en turión,and Frente D es pertar’ s José Luis Espert.

After a continued delay in voting results for Buenos Aires Province, officials released today official voting data, confirming a strong showing for Peronist candidate Axel Kicillof of more than a million-and-a-half votes over current Governor María Eugenia Vidal.

In the provincial provisiona­l count, Kicillof had garnered 49.34 percent of t he votecom pared to Vidal’ s 32.56 percent with 98.5 percent of districts processed.

The new data, seen by Noticias Argentinas, shows that the Kirchnerit­e politician won 4.92 million votes, while the incumbent took 3.22 million votes, translatin­g to 49.1 percent versus 32.2 percent – a different of almost17pe­rc en ta ge points.

Article 113 of local electoral law establishe­s that whoever obtains the “simple majority of the votes” is the winner come October.
