EROSION OR COLLAPSE?
I am amused by the fact that, by now, there are lots of acquaintances of mine who really believe that I am somewhat deranged. This is due to the fact that, since quite some time, I have been sustaining the idea that the pero-kirchnerista regime is not going to disappear through erosion but rather by collapse. It is quite comprehensible that, with the experience we Argentines have had since 1945, most people believe by now that Peronism in one form or other will be eternal. Well yes, it probably will still be with us for quite some years, but its time in power is soon to end.
There are moments when what is happening at present in the ruling party reminds me of what happens with the Perito Moreno glacier every so many years. The cracks start showing everywhere, and noone knows exactly when the collapse will occur, but that it will eventually happen is a certainty. As an example, take the celebration(s) of this last Loyalty Day: The cracks were more than visible when one observed the split which produced three different demonstrations on three different days! Perón must have turned in his grave! In fact loyalty is an element which is disappearing at top speed in the pero-kirchnerista regime; just witness the way in which the leaders are hurling accusations at each other these days. So, for the time being, I will continue in my belief that this story is going to soon end like the Berlin Wall, even if many continue to consider that I am somewhat off my rocker. Meanwhile, whatever be, on the 14N we must all be out there voting, come hail or lightning, because “it’s the Republic, darn it!”
