BATTLE OF THE BULGE: PART 166

-

Dear Sirs,

Just over three weeks to go to the key midterm congressional elections that will probably define Argentina’s socio-politico-economic future for the next half century, or so. Can the late Russian Economist Nikolai Kondatriev, who adduced the longterm economic cycle of about eighty years, be proven right, after all? The obviously

disparate Peronista government is in a fine state of disarray at present and couldn’t even make up its collective mind about how to celebrate Loyalty Day on October 17. Lady Hebe Bonafini was especially critical of our plastic president and accused him of sucking up to the rich and famous. Perhaps Uncle Albert should recall Disraeli’s famous retort to a British MP who said that he would probably die on the gallows or of some unspeakable disease: “That depends, Sir, whether I embrace your policies or your mistress.” Warm embraces to all my fellow citizens!
