NISMAN ‘THREAT’
Dear editors,
Glum to see you fall for taking a statement out of context. Here, attached below, is Alberto Fernández responding to TN last week in a video.
First: Fortunately, your Executive Director Agustino Fontevecchia, seemed to watch the video as at least he noted in his column Saturday that TN journalists brought up the Nisman element, and not President Fernández. An important point. Thank you!
Second: As Nisman had no case (and you are free to study it here, both in English and Spanish), he did put his foot in his mouth, perhaps, when he commingled how Nisman died and rushed into Luciani’s tact. He was not making a threat as the Buenos Aires
Times wrote on your first page last week, and as the Times continued inside (apart from your executive director’s column).
Watch the attached video, you’ll see. Nisman is a recurring theme, as it is almost never covered right. He had no case.
Thank you,
Christopher E. Carpenter City
[Editor’s note: I feel a clarification should be made here in response to this letter – in last week’s news article, we reported that the opposition had described the president’s comments as a “threat,” we did not do so ourselves. This is why the phrase “mafia threat” appeared in quotes in the headline – JG]
