Noche de los Museos returns for 18th edition with focus on art and nature

- BY JULIANA GUARRACINO

Buenos Aires’ popular ‘Night of the Museums’ festival returns to the capital this weekend, with hundreds of cultural spaces opening their doors to porteños for free.

The Buenos Aires City government will host the 18th edition of ‘La Noche de los Museos’ this Saturday (October 22). This year’s event is focused on art and nature, in support of this week’s C40 World Mayors Summit, a network of mayors taking action against climate change. Museums and cultural spaces will be open from 7pm to 2am with free admission across all venues – there are over 270 venues available to visit, including all the capital’s largest and most famous museums. In one of this year’s highlights, Usina del Arte will present the HUMANA exhibition, a first for the TROSMANCHURBA duo. Visitors can view the installation in the foyer.

In addition to art, visitors can also attend a talk at Usina del Arte’s auditorium featuring Santiago Siri and Hernán Zin, who will discuss blockchain and sustainability and analyse the environmental effects of Bitcoin mining.

On the plaza stage, singers Maggie Cullen, Loli Molina and Malena Villa will perform. CH4RL4 DJ and Fenna Frei will perform on the patio. Children can also partake in the fun with book readings and other recreational activities. Free public transport is included for all those taking past. Locals and tourists can use the Subte metro service from 7pm until closing with a “free pass” that must be downloaded in advance from the City’s government’s BOTI Whatsapp service. There will also be more than 2,300 bicycles for the night available to use for free at Ecobici stations across the city. Organisers say attendees should download and plan their schedule in advance, taking note of information on times and locations. For more visit lanochedelosmuseos.gob.ar.
