IT’S NOT ONLY ABOUT EGOS

-

Lots of people believe that the quarrels going on between certain prominent opposition leaders are simply a matter of egos. To a great extent this reasoning is correct, but actually there is another, much deeper, element which plays a fundamental role as a generator of discrepancies.

While some politicians are all-out, should they reach government, to bring about drastic change with the objective of going down new roads in search of turning around Argentina´s near century-long decadence, others are tied down to the concept of continuity simply because, one way or another, they belong to the corporative system which has governed us since the birth of Peronism in the 1940s.

Actually, if one delves into the histories of these individuals, one finds that at one point or another they served the peronista movement, or have had the backing of the important part of the business establishment that, moves behind the scenes to receive the protectionism and the favouritism of those in power. Our country is suffering from a very large rift, but this does not affect personal relationship existing between corporativists of all sides, including of course the trade union fatsos.

So it isn’t only a question of egos, and the citizen on the street would do well in finding out more about those who want to run the country and their connections. Because corporativists are by nature selfserving and undemocratic, as Mussolini, a great promoter of this line of thought proved, whereas those who respect and defend the nation´s institutions are definitely a better bet, because for them: “It’s the Republic, dammit”!
