Call for ban on snares on moors
A new report commissioned by animal welfare charity the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics has urged ministers to bring in a full ban on methods of predator control, including snares, on Scotland’s moors.
It comes as
MSPS are due to examine details of the Wildlife Management and Muirburn Bill which covers raptor persecution and the management of grouse moors. It passed its first parliamentary stage last Thursday.
The Bill aims to address raptor persecutionbut rural groups have said the proposals could damage the wider rural economy while animal welfare campaigners are calling for policy to be more robust.
