JOSH IS GUNNER GRAB HIS LATICS OPPORTUNITY
JOSH Robinson is hoping his “leap of faith” pays dividends after ditching Arsenal to join League One Wigan.
The 20-year-old fullback came through the ranks at the Emirates, and scored once in three appearances for the Gunners’
Under-21 side in this season’s Vertu Trophy.
He was also an unused substitute in four Champions League games but never made an appearance for the senior side and has now joined Shaun Maloney’s Latics on a three-year deal.
“When you see a big club like Wigan show an interest, you cannot turn that opportunity down,” said Robinson.
“I’ve been at Arsenal for a long time. Coming out of the academy into a first-team environment is a big step but I feel like I am ready to take it.
Robinson can play as a right-back, wing-back or in central defence.
Maloney said: “Moving here was a significant decision for him, but Josh is both excited and motivated about our vision for the club in the coming seasons. He is an extremely dedicated defender who excels in one-on-one situations and possesses strengths in attacking areas as well.”
